Dr. Schwassmann graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and practiced in south Florida for five years before returning to Gainesville for her dermatology residency. After completing her residency in 1996 she moved to Orlando and joined the Veterinary Dermatology Center. Dr. Schwassmann has served on the executive board of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology and continues working on several committees. She is also a member of the organizing committee for the North American Veterinary Dermatology Forum. She shares her home with Dakota, a labrador retriever (a rescue with bad allergies of course!), and a very old cat named Mickey. Mickey still rules the house and enjoys sleeping on the dog beds so the big dogs cannot use them.
